Indonesia Visa for Slovenian Citizens

Alice Korsak

Our Bali visa agent

Slovenian citizens need a visa to enter Indonesia. For a trip to Bali you apply for the eVOA — the electronic visa on arrival, obtained online before you fly. It gives 30 days and extends once by another 30.

Here is what applies specifically to Slovenians: why the embassy responsible for Indonesia is in Canberra while the help on the ground is Austrian, which regions the Slovenian ministry tells you to avoid, and what your policy has to say if you are going to surf or dive.

Indonesia Visa for Slovenian Citizens

Do Slovenian citizens need a visa for Indonesia?

Yes. Slovenia is one of the ninety-seven countries whose citizens can use the visa on arrival, and it is issued online as the eVOA. The government fee is IDR 500,000, the stay is 30 days and it extends once by another 30. You apply at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, and the visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

The Slovenian foreign ministry states the requirements briefly, and they match the Indonesian ones: a visa is required and can be obtained online or on arrival; the passport must be valid for at least six months; the entry form is completed online in advance; and on Bali you pay the tourist levy of IDR 150,000 — the ministry also gives the figure in euros, about eight euros ninety.

What the e-VOA gives you

Point by point: how you apply, how long the visa itself is valid and how long you may actually stay.

  1. How it is issued. Entirely online, through the Indonesian immigration portal. You receive a PDF with a number and a QR code. Print it or keep it on your phone.
  2. Validity. 90 days from the date of issue. You can enter on any day inside that window, including the last one.
  3. Length of stay. 30 days, counted from the day you cross the border. The day you land counts as day one.
  4. Extension. Once, for another 30 days. The maximum on this visa is 60 days in one trip.
  5. Entries. Single. If you pop over to Singapore for a weekend, the visa is used up and you need a new one to come back.

❗ Planning more than 60 days? Do not rely on the e-VOA. Apply for a C1 tourist visa before you fly. You cannot switch from an e-VOA to a C1 inside Indonesia, you would have to leave the country and apply from abroad.

How the extension works

Start the extension about two weeks before your 30 days run out. Do not leave it to the last day. The application goes in online, then immigration gives you a date to come to the nearest office once, for a photo and fingerprints. The official extension fee is IDR 500,000.

We handle the paperwork and the appointment for you. If you already know you want the full 60 days, take the "e-VOA for 60 days" option in the price list below and stop thinking about it.

What documents you need

The list is short, and most of it is already on your phone.

  1. A colour scan or photo of the bio-data page of your passport. It has to be valid for at least 6 months on the day you enter Indonesia.
  2. A photo on a plain white background. A phone selfie is fine, no studio needed.
  3. The address where you will stay in Indonesia. A hotel booking is enough.
  4. A booking for a return or onward flight.

❗ Every child needs a separate visa, including infants. A child cannot travel on a parent's e-VOA.

One thing catches travellers out more often than anything else.

The six months are counted from the date printed in your passport. Indonesian officers do not care when it was issued or whether extra months were added to it years ago. Look at the expiry date on the photo page and count from there.

Send everything to our specialists in chat. If you have not booked the return flight yet, say so and we will help.

Who looks after a Slovenian in Indonesia

Slovenia has no embassy, no consulate and no honorary consul in Indonesia. Two separate mechanisms cover the gap, and it helps not to confuse them.

The competent Slovenian embassy for Indonesia is in Canberra. 26 Akame Circuit, O'Malley ACT 2606, Australia, +61 2 6290 0000, sloembassy.canberra@gov.si. More important than any of that: the emergency number is +61 449 054 321. Save it before you fly.

On the ground, Austria represents Slovenia. The EU consular contact list for Indonesia carries the note "Represented by Austria" beside Slovenia. The basis is Council Directive (EU) 2015/637: a Union citizen may approach any other member state's mission where their own country is not represented, on the same terms as that state's own nationals.

The Austrian embassy in Jakarta: Jalan Diponegoro 44, Menteng, Jakarta Pusat 10310, +62 21 23 554 005 and +62 811 83 37 90, jakarta-ob@bmeia.gv.at. They work in English.

Consider the clock, because it decides who you can actually reach. Canberra runs two hours ahead of Bali, so the Slovenian embassy's working day overlaps yours. Ljubljana is six to seven hours behind Denpasar depending on the season, which means a call home from Indonesia almost always lands at night. The Austrian mission in Jakarta is the only link in the chain sitting in your own time zone.

Worth knowing in the other direction: Indonesia does have a consulate in Slovenia, at Nazorjeva 8 in Ljubljana. Questions that are easier to ask at home and in advance belong there, not at a counter in Jakarta after you land.

Which regions the Slovenian ministry tells you to avoid

Slovenian advice on Indonesia is more specific than most, and the list of regions is wider than the usual one.

The ministry advises avoiding the provinces of Papua, Sulawesi, Aceh and Maluku — the city of Ambon in particular. Note that Sulawesi and Aceh are on that list; many European advisories stop at the Papuan provinces. If your route goes beyond Bali and Java, factor it in.

  • A standing threat of terrorist attack, especially at popular tourist sites, with a request to treat official warnings seriously rather than as boilerplate.
  • Opportunistic street crime — pickpocketing, sometimes with force. Extra care with taxis, in crowds, in bars and nightclubs.
  • Drinks that may contain unknown toxic substances — home-distilled and loosely sourced spirits.
  • Women travelling alone are named as a category at heightened risk.
  • Natural disasters — floods, landslides, earthquakes, eruptions and tsunamis, which above all break transport links.

On healthcare the language is blunt and honest: medical care is inadequate, most staff do not speak English, payment may be demanded in cash and up front, and medical evacuation can be extremely expensive. Hence the ministry's direct recommendation that your policy include medical evacuation and hospitalisation. Drink only boiled or bottled water; skip anything raw or undercooked.

Surfing or diving? What the policy has to say

Slovenians do not fly to Bali for the temples. Uluwatu, Canggu, the Bukit, Nusa Penida, the Gilis — this is surf and dive country, and ordinary travel insurance stops working exactly when you need it.

The ministry's requirement — evacuation and hospitalisation cover — is the floor, not the ceiling. Three things to check before you buy, not after the incident.

One: the activity has to be named. Most insurers class surfing and diving as higher-risk sport and exclude them from base cover; they go on as a separate rider. "Sports activity" in general is not the same as "diving to forty metres". Read the wording literally, depth limits included — many policies cap the depth below which cover simply stops.

Two: the chamber. Decompression sickness is treated in a hyperbaric chamber, and in Indonesia those exist only on Java and Bali. For Bali that is good news — the chamber is close. For Nusa Penida, the Gilis, Komodo and Raja Ampat it means someone has to move you from the dive site to the chamber, and that is a medical transfer, not a taxi. The policy has to cover it.

Three: excess and up-front payment. The Slovenian ministry warns explicitly that payment may be demanded in cash and in advance. Ask your insurer whether they settle directly with Balinese clinics or reimburse afterwards. The difference between those two models is the difference between making a phone call and putting several thousand euros on a card in an emergency room.

And the part insurance cannot fix: Slovenian advice names natural conditions as something that changes fast. Beach warnings and lifeguards' instructions are not decoration. A flag on a Balinese beach means what it says.

Your pre-flight checklist

Run through this the night before. These are exactly the things passport control will ask for.

  1. Passport valid at least 6 months from the date of entry, with two blank pages.
  2. The e-VOA saved on your phone and printed.
  3. The All Indonesia arrival card completed and its QR code saved.
  4. If you are flying to Bali, the tourist levy paid and its QR code saved.

What is the All Indonesia arrival card?

It is a free electronic form that every traveller arriving in Indonesia has to complete. It became compulsory on 1 October 2025 and replaced four separate documents at once: the immigration arrival card, the customs declaration, the quarantine declaration and the health pass.

You fill it in on the official site or in the All Indonesia app. The window is three days before arrival, and you can also do it on landing, though filling it in before you board is calmer. Once you submit it, a QR code arrives by email. That QR code is what you show at passport control.

❗ The arrival card is not a visa and does not replace one. You need both.

How much is the Bali tourist levy?

IDR 150,000 per person, about USD 9.50. It applies to everyone who does anything touristy on the island, children included, whatever the purpose of the trip.

You pay on the official site or in the Love Bali app. Cash is not accepted, only cards, bank transfer or QRIS. The levy is paid once per trip and any time before you leave Indonesia, but the sensible moment is before departure. Save the QR code you get by email: it is scanned as you walk out of the arrivals area at Ngurah Rai Airport or at Benoa seaport.

Landing in Jakarta and never going to Bali? Then you do not pay it.

Getting to Indonesia from Slovenia

There are no nonstop flights from Ljubljana to Denpasar. In practice it is a change in Istanbul, Doha or Dubai, or a hop through Vienna or Munich and onward east, seventeen to twenty hours door to door.

Get the eVOA before you leave Slovenia: it arrives as a PDF, and you may be asked to show it at the gate for the long-haul flight.

What happens if you overstay

The fine is IDR 1,000,000 for every day beyond your permitted stay, and you pay it at the airport as you leave. A long overstay is a different matter and can end in detention, deportation and a ban on returning. Immigration does not accept "I lost track of the dates", so check the stamp in your passport on the day you arrive and set a reminder.

Staying longer than 60 days

Two visas cover almost every case.

The C1 tourist visa gives 60 days and can be extended twice without leaving the country, up to 180 days in total. It needs a local guarantor, and MyVisa.World acts as one.

The D1 multiple-entry visa is valid for 1, 2 or 5 years and gives 60 days on every entry, with no limit on how many times you come and go. It suits people who visit Indonesia several times a year.

Why apply through MyVisa.World

We are officially registered in Indonesia and work with the immigration service directly, without middlemen. Your application is checked by a person before it is submitted, so a blurred passport scan or a photo with a shadow on the face does not turn into a refusal a week later.

Standard processing is 2 days. If you are flying tomorrow, the express service submits your application ahead of the queue and the visa usually arrives within 2 hours. We accept cards issued by any bank in the world.

Write to our visa specialist in chat, send a copy of your passport and a photo, and we will take it from there.

FAQ

Yes. There is no visa-free entry for Slovenian passports. Slovenia is on the visa-on-arrival list: you apply for the eVOA online before departure, the fee is IDR 500,000, the stay is 30 days and it extends once by another 30. The passport needs at least six months of validity.

No — neither an embassy nor an honorary consul. The competent Slovenian embassy for Indonesia is in Canberra: +61 2 6290 0000, emergency number +61 449 054 321, sloembassy.canberra@gov.si. On the ground Slovenia is represented by Austria.

Call the Canberra embassy's emergency number, +61 449 054 321, and on the ground go to the Austrian embassy in Jakarta, Jalan Diponegoro 44, Menteng, +62 21 23 554 005 or +62 811 83 37 90. That is a right under Council Directive (EU) 2015/637, not a favour.

It advises avoiding the provinces of Papua, Sulawesi, Aceh and Maluku, and the city of Ambon in particular. Bali and Java are not on the list. It separately flags a standing threat of terrorist attack at tourist sites and heightened risk for women travelling alone.

Medical evacuation and hospitalisation, which the Slovenian ministry requires. Plus diving named as a separate rider with its depth limit, and cover for the transfer to a hyperbaric chamber. In Indonesia those chambers exist only on Java and Bali, so from Nusa Penida or the Gilis you have to be moved.

Indonesia does have a consulate in Slovenia, at Nazorjeva 8 in Ljubljana. The eVOA itself is issued online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id and needs no visit, but document questions are easier to ask at home and in advance than at a counter in Jakarta.
