Indonesia Visa for Croatian Citizens

Alice Korsak

Our Bali visa agent

Croatian citizens need a visa to enter Indonesia. For a trip to Bali you apply for the eVOA — the electronic visa on arrival, obtained online before you fly. It gives 30 days and extends once by another 30.

Here is what applies specifically to Croatians: the duty to register a stay in private accommodation and the fine for missing it, the exclusion zones around volcanoes, and what the ministry says about food and hygiene.

Indonesia Visa for Croatian Citizens

Do Croatian citizens need a visa for Indonesia?

Yes. Croatia is one of the 97 countries whose citizens can use the visa on arrival: 30 days, extendable by another 30. The passport must be valid for at least six months after you leave the country.

The Croatian foreign ministry separately names the compulsory registration on the All Indonesia platform, which has to be completed no later than 72 hours before arrival.

What the e-VOA gives you

Point by point: how you apply, how long the visa itself is valid and how long you may actually stay.

  1. How it is issued. Entirely online, through the Indonesian immigration portal. You receive a PDF with a number and a QR code. Print it or keep it on your phone.
  2. Validity. 90 days from the date of issue. You can enter on any day inside that window, including the last one.
  3. Length of stay. 30 days, counted from the day you cross the border. The day you land counts as day one.
  4. Extension. Once, for another 30 days. The maximum on this visa is 60 days in one trip.
  5. Entries. Single. If you pop over to Singapore for a weekend, the visa is used up and you need a new one to come back.

❗ Planning more than 60 days? Do not rely on the e-VOA. Apply for a C1 tourist visa before you fly. You cannot switch from an e-VOA to a C1 inside Indonesia, you would have to leave the country and apply from abroad.

How the extension works

Start the extension about two weeks before your 30 days run out. Do not leave it to the last day. The application goes in online, then immigration gives you a date to come to the nearest office once, for a photo and fingerprints. The official extension fee is IDR 500,000.

We handle the paperwork and the appointment for you. If you already know you want the full 60 days, take the "e-VOA for 60 days" option in the price list below and stop thinking about it.

What documents you need

The list is short, and most of it is already on your phone.

  1. A colour scan or photo of the bio-data page of your passport. It has to be valid for at least 6 months on the day you enter Indonesia.
  2. A photo on a plain white background. A phone selfie is fine, no studio needed.
  3. The address where you will stay in Indonesia. A hotel booking is enough.
  4. A booking for a return or onward flight.

❗ Every child needs a separate visa, including infants. A child cannot travel on a parent's e-VOA.

Send everything to our specialists in chat. If you have not booked the return flight yet, say so and we will help.

Price and processing time

All prices include the Indonesian government fee and our service charge. We accept cards issued by any bank in the world. The express option means your application goes in ahead of the queue within two business hours of payment.

If you are staying in a private house rather than a hotel

The most practical item in Croatia's advice, and the least expected. The wording is direct: visitors staying in private accommodation must register their place of stay, and failure to do so carries a fine of IDR 5,000,000.

Where this comes from: Indonesia requires that a foreigner's stay be reported to immigration. Hotels and guesthouses do it through an electronic system, APOA (Aplikasi Pelaporan Orang Asing) — the manager enters the guest's details and you never notice. Rent a villa or a house from a private owner and that chain often simply does not run: the owner is not in the system and the tenant does not know the rule exists.

If you are renting a villa on Bali: ask the owner or management company whether they report your stay — reputable agencies do; if the answer is vague, ask for it in writing or go to the local immigration office yourself; and keep the confirmation with a copy of your passport.

The formality takes minutes, and the fine is comparable to a month's rent on a modest villa. It matters most to long stays — a C1 visa, or a season on the island — where the question is far likelier to come up.

Exclusion zones around craters

Croatia's advice is one of the few to give actual distances rather than general words about volcanic activity: stay at least five kilometres from the craters of Sinabung in North Sumatra and Semeru in East Java.

Not directly about Bali — but directly about two popular add-ons. East Java, where Bromo and Ijen are a two- or three-day trip from Bali, sits in the same volcanic complex as Semeru, and zone status changes quickly. And on Bali itself, Mount Agung is periodically closed to climbers, a decision made by Indonesia's volcanology agency rather than by tour operators. Check the agency's current alert level, not the guide selling you the ascent.

What the ministry says about food and disease

Croatian wording is blunter than most European advice: malaria, dengue fever and chikungunya are widespread, repellent is necessary, and the ministry rates sanitary and hygiene conditions in the country as poor, with a risk of skin and intestinal illness. Street food is best avoided.

Seen from Bali the picture is milder than it sounds: in tourist areas the food is broadly safe, and dengue is a real but manageable risk — repellent, a mosquito net, no open containers of standing water. There is no malaria on Bali; it matters in the eastern provinces.

What is genuinely worth taking from this point: international medical insurance is essential. The state health service does not treat foreigners, and treating dengue in a private clinic in Denpasar means several days as an inpatient.

Your pre-flight checklist

Run through this the night before. These are exactly the things passport control will ask for.

  1. Passport valid at least 6 months from the date of entry, with two blank pages.
  2. The e-VOA saved on your phone and printed.
  3. The All Indonesia arrival card completed and its QR code saved.
  4. If you are flying to Bali, the tourist levy paid and its QR code saved.

What is the All Indonesia arrival card?

It is a free electronic form that every traveller arriving in Indonesia has to complete. It became compulsory on 1 October 2025 and replaced four separate documents at once: the immigration arrival card, the customs declaration, the quarantine declaration and the health pass.

You fill it in on the official site or in the All Indonesia app. The window is three days before arrival, and you can also do it on landing, though filling it in before you board is calmer. Once you submit it, a QR code arrives by email. That QR code is what you show at passport control.

❗ The arrival card is not a visa and does not replace one. You need both.

How much is the Bali tourist levy?

IDR 150,000 per person, about USD 9.50. It applies to everyone who does anything touristy on the island, children included, whatever the purpose of the trip.

You pay on the official site or in the Love Bali app. Cash is not accepted, only cards, bank transfer or QRIS. The levy is paid once per trip and any time before you leave Indonesia, but the sensible moment is before departure. Save the QR code you get by email: it is scanned as you walk out of the arrivals area at Ngurah Rai Airport or at Benoa seaport.

Landing in Jakarta and never going to Bali? Then you do not pay it.

What happens if you overstay

The fine is IDR 1,000,000 for every day beyond your permitted stay, and you pay it at the airport as you leave. A long overstay is a different matter and can end in detention, deportation and a ban on returning. Immigration does not accept "I lost track of the dates", so check the stamp in your passport on the day you arrive and set a reminder.

Staying longer than 60 days

Two visas cover almost every case.

The C1 tourist visa gives 60 days and can be extended twice without leaving the country, up to 180 days in total. It needs a local guarantor, and MyVisa.World acts as one.

The D1 multiple-entry visa is valid for 1, 2 or 5 years and gives 60 days on every entry, with no limit on how many times you come and go. It suits people who visit Indonesia several times a year.

Why apply through MyVisa.World

We are officially registered in Indonesia and work with the immigration service directly, without middlemen. Your application is checked by a person before it is submitted, so a blurred passport scan or a photo with a shadow on the face does not turn into a refusal a week later.

Standard processing is 2 days. If you are flying tomorrow, the express service submits your application ahead of the queue and the visa usually arrives within 2 hours. We accept cards issued by any bank in the world.

Write to our visa specialist in chat, send a copy of your passport and a photo, and we will take it from there.

Yes. The Croatian ministry warns that visitors in private accommodation must register their place of stay, and the fine for failing to is IDR 5,000,000. Hotels report guests automatically through the APOA system; with a private landlord you have to see to it yourself.

No later than 72 hours before arrival. It is a single online form replacing the customs declaration, the immigration card and the health forms.

It depends on the current alert level. Croatian advice names a five-kilometre exclusion zone around the Sinabung and Semeru craters. On Bali, Mount Agung is periodically closed to climbers by Indonesia's volcanology agency — check its data rather than your guide's word.

The Croatian ministry advises avoiding it and rates the country’s sanitary conditions as poor. On Bali the food in tourist areas is broadly safe, but international medical insurance is needed in any case: the state health service does not treat foreigners.
