Do Albanian citizens need a visa for Indonesia?
Yes. Albania is one of the 97 countries whose citizens can use the visa on arrival. You apply online — the eVOA at evisa.imigrasi.go.id: a fee of IDR 500,000, a 30-day stay and one extension by another 30. The visa is valid for 90 days from issue, so you can file well ahead of the trip.
The passport requirements are the standard ones and they are checked seriously: at least six months of validity on the date of entry, blank pages, and a return or onward ticket with a fixed date.
Plus two compulsory forms. All Indonesia is the single electronic arrival card required of every international passenger since 1 October 2025; it replaced the customs, immigration, health and quarantine declarations, is completed in a window no earlier than 72 hours before arrival and produces a QR code. And the Bali tourist levy — IDR 150,000 per person, once per trip, online or on arrival.
Inside the country you pay in rupiah only: a central bank requirement (PBI 17/3/PBI/2015). Euros are not accepted at the till, even if the price was quoted in euros.
What the e-VOA gives you
Point by point: how you apply, how long the visa itself is valid and how long you may actually stay.
- How it is issued. Entirely online, through the Indonesian immigration portal. You receive a PDF with a number and a QR code. Print it or keep it on your phone.
- Validity. 90 days from the date of issue. You can enter on any day inside that window, including the last one.
- Length of stay. 30 days, counted from the day you cross the border. The day you land counts as day one.
- Extension. Once, for another 30 days. The maximum on this visa is 60 days in one trip.
- Entries. Single. If you pop over to Singapore for a weekend, the visa is used up and you need a new one to come back.
❗ Planning more than 60 days? Do not rely on the e-VOA. Apply for a C1 tourist visa before you fly. You cannot switch from an e-VOA to a C1 inside Indonesia, you would have to leave the country and apply from abroad.
How the extension works
Start the extension about two weeks before your 30 days run out. Do not leave it to the last day. The application goes in online, then immigration gives you a date to come to the nearest office once, for a photo and fingerprints. The official extension fee is IDR 500,000.
We handle the paperwork and the appointment for you. If you already know you want the full 60 days, take the "e-VOA for 60 days" option in the price list below and stop thinking about it.
What documents you need
The list is short, and most of it is already on your phone.
- A colour scan or photo of the bio-data page of your passport. It has to be valid for at least 6 months on the day you enter Indonesia.
- A photo on a plain white background. A phone selfie is fine, no studio needed.
- The address where you will stay in Indonesia. A hotel booking is enough.
- A booking for a return or onward flight.
❗ Every child needs a separate visa, including infants. A child cannot travel on a parent's e-VOA.
One thing catches travellers out more often than anything else.
The six months are counted from the date printed in your passport. Indonesian officers do not care when it was issued or whether extra months were added to it years ago. Look at the expiry date on the photo page and count from there.
Send everything to our specialists in chat. If you have not booked the return flight yet, say so and we will help.
Price and processing time
All prices include the Indonesian government fee and our service charge. We accept cards issued by any bank in the world. The express option means your application goes in ahead of the queue within two business hours of payment.

The EU consular directive does not apply to Albanian passports
Albania is an EU candidate in accession talks, not a member. One practical consequence travels with you: Council Directive 2015/637 does not cover an Albanian passport.
That directive lets an EU citizen approach any other member state's mission where their own country is unrepresented. It gives an Albanian nothing. The familiar tourist advice — "walk into any European embassy" — is not addressed to you, and no foreign mission is obliged to take your case.
Which is where the pleasant surprise comes in. In Indonesia you do not need somebody else's door. You have your own.
One of only three Albanian embassies in all of Asia — and it is in Jakarta
Albania's diplomatic network is small, and in Asia it is compressed to the minimum. The foreign ministry's official list of missions shows three embassies across the whole region: Indonesia, Japan and China. Nothing in Malaysia, Singapore or Thailand — nothing at all between Beijing and Jakarta.
Jakarta makes that short list:
- Ambasada e Republikës së Shqipërisë në Indonezi, Menara Astra Tower, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 5–6, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta
- embassy.jakarta@mfa.gov.al
- emergency line: +62 819 4431 9310
- headed by Chargé d'Affaires Nikson Ballço
For an Albanian traveller this is a rare position: a country where you expected nothing turns out to hold your own embassy with a duty number. Save that number before you fly. It is worth more than any blog's list of useful contacts.
There is no Albanian consular presence on Bali. Denpasar to Jakarta is about two hours by air, and every piece of consular paperwork happens at that end.
The important part: the Jakarta embassy does not issue passports
This is the fact that catches people out. Albania accepts passport and ID applications not at every mission, but at a selected list of them. According to the ministry, you can apply abroad in Greece, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Turkey, Austria, Sweden, France and Canada.
Indonesia is not on that list. The reason is technical: a biometric passport needs fingerprints and a photograph captured on certified equipment, and those stations sit where the large Albanian communities are.
So if your passport goes missing on Bali, you will not get a new one anywhere in Indonesia. What remains is the leje kalimi, the laissez-passer.
Laissez-passer: €30, one destination, and up to thirty days of waiting
The leje kalimi is issued by the Albanian foreign ministry to a citizen without a valid travel document. The wording is unambiguous: it permits a journey whose final destination is Albania. Not Dubai, not a week's stopover in Istanbul, not "finishing the itinerary". Home.
An adult needs a copy of the passport, ID card or driving licence; two colour photographs 4 × 5 cm on a white background; and a police report of the loss. For a child, add an apostilled or legalised birth certificate, translated and notarised proof of guardianship, and the other parent's consent if only one is applying.
Applications go through the e-Albania portal — Albanian consular services have moved online, and the laissez-passer is one of ten service categories handled that way. Approval, missing-document notices and payment details arrive by email, and originals must follow within 20 calendar days of payment.
Now the numbers that make this section worth reading:
- Cost: €30 or the local-currency equivalent.
- Validity: from 10 days to 6 months, depending on circumstances.
- Processing: 10 to 30 days.
That last line is the one. A stated 10–30 days means an Albanian who loses a passport on Bali could in theory be stuck on the island for a month. In genuine emergencies consular services move faster — that is what they are for — but "tomorrow" is not a plan, and a flight three days out is almost certainly lost.
Three conclusions follow. Keep a colour scan of your passport and a couple of 4 × 5 photographs in the cloud; that shortens the process more than any amount of pleading. File the police report immediately rather than back at the hotel, because nothing starts without it. And if the trip is long and hops around Asia, travel insurance covering unplanned accommodation stops being a formality — you may be on Bali longer than you chose to be.
The obvious one still works: leave the passport in the hotel safe. It does not get lost there.
Your name must match the machine-readable zone
Albanian uses two letters outside the basic Latin set: ç and ë. They print normally on the passport page, but in the machine-readable zone — the two lines of characters at the bottom — they become C and E.
Indonesian systems read that zone. So enter your name in the eVOA form without diacritics, exactly as it appears in those two lines: Çela becomes CELA, Hoxhë becomes HOXHE. Any mismatch between visa and passport invites questions at the border, and amending an issued eVOA costs time.
Check the ordering too — given name in the given-name field, surname in the surname field, passport number digit for digit. A single wrong character in the number is the commonest reason a formally valid visa fails at the desk.
You can extend the visa on the spot yourself or through an agency: MyVisa.World is registered in Indonesia, prepares the paperwork and keeps an eye on the filing deadlines.
Your pre-flight checklist
Run through this the night before. These are exactly the things passport control will ask for.
- Passport valid at least 6 months from the date of entry, with two blank pages.
- The e-VOA saved on your phone and printed.
- The All Indonesia arrival card completed and its QR code saved.
- If you are flying to Bali, the tourist levy paid and its QR code saved.
What is the All Indonesia arrival card?
It is a free electronic form that every traveller arriving in Indonesia has to complete. It became compulsory on 1 October 2025 and replaced four separate documents at once: the immigration arrival card, the customs declaration, the quarantine declaration and the health pass.
You fill it in on the official site or in the All Indonesia app. The window is three days before arrival, and you can also do it on landing, though filling it in before you board is calmer. Once you submit it, a QR code arrives by email. That QR code is what you show at passport control.
❗ The arrival card is not a visa and does not replace one. You need both.
How much is the Bali tourist levy?
IDR 150,000 per person, about USD 9.50. It applies to everyone who does anything touristy on the island, children included, whatever the purpose of the trip.
You pay on the official site or in the Love Bali app. Cash is not accepted, only cards, bank transfer or QRIS. The levy is paid once per trip and any time before you leave Indonesia, but the sensible moment is before departure. Save the QR code you get by email: it is scanned as you walk out of the arrivals area at Ngurah Rai Airport or at Benoa seaport.
Landing in Jakarta and never going to Bali? Then you do not pay it.
What happens if you overstay
The fine is IDR 1,000,000 for every day beyond your permitted stay, and you pay it at the airport as you leave. A long overstay is a different matter and can end in detention, deportation and a ban on returning. Immigration does not accept "I lost track of the dates", so check the stamp in your passport on the day you arrive and set a reminder.
Staying longer than 60 days
Two visas cover almost every case.
The C1 tourist visa gives 60 days and can be extended twice without leaving the country, up to 180 days in total. It needs a local guarantor, and MyVisa.World acts as one.
The D1 multiple-entry visa is valid for 1, 2 or 5 years and gives 60 days on every entry, with no limit on how many times you come and go. It suits people who visit Indonesia several times a year.
Why apply through MyVisa.World
We are officially registered in Indonesia and work with the immigration service directly, without middlemen. Your application is checked by a person before it is submitted, so a blurred passport scan or a photo with a shadow on the face does not turn into a refusal a week later.
Standard processing is 2 days. If you are flying tomorrow, the express service submits your application ahead of the queue and the visa usually arrives within 2 hours. We accept cards issued by any bank in the world.
Write to our visa specialist in chat, send a copy of your passport and a photo, and we will take it from there.
